fimbrillin
Major subunit protein of bacterial pili (fimbriae). Binds to fibronectin and statherin. Coded by Fim genes. In Porphyromonas (Bacteroides) gingivalis fimbrillins are around 43 kD; in E. coli around 17 kD. Important as virulence factors.
